When you take a pre-recorded interview on Jobma, the time you have to respond, whether you can move between questions, and whether you can reattempt a response depend on the question format and the time and retake settings configured by the employer.

Before You Start

Take a moment to understand the time limits for your interview before you begin. You may see the following time settings:

  • Think time: The time you have to read a question and prepare your thoughts before you start recording the actual response.
  • Response time: The amount of time you have to record your response to a question.
  • Total interview time: The maximum time allowed to complete the interview.

Jobma pre-recorded interviews can use one of three formats: Default, Flexible, or Timed. Here's what to expect from each format and how you can prepare.

1. Default Interview

A Default interview takes you through the questions one at a time. Once you submit your response to a question, you move on to the next one.

How it works:

  • Each question has a think time and a response time limit.
  • Questions are presented in sequence, so you'll answer them one at a time as you move through the interview.
  • After you submit an answer, you won't be able to go back and change or re-record that response.
  • Depending on the interview settings, a question may have a limited number of retakes. If retakes are allowed, you’ll see the number of attempts allowed to answer the question.

Tips for taking a Default interview

  • Find a quiet, comfortable place where you can attempt the interview without distractions.
  • Make sure your camera, microphone, and internet connection are working properly before you start.
  • Read the instructions on the interview screen carefully before starting.
  • Take a moment to review the think time, response time, and total interview time before you begin.
  • Use your think time to gather your thoughts and plan what you'd like to say.
  • If available, attempt a couple of practice questions to get comfortable with the interview flow.
  • Keep an eye on the response time while recording so you have enough time to finish your answer.
  • If retakes are available, check how many you have left before you submit your response.

2. Flexible Interview

A Flexible interview gives you more flexibility to review your answers. Each question has its own time limit, and you can return to questions and, if available, reattempt your responses.

How it works:

  • Each question has its own time limit.
  • After you've attempted all the questions, you can review your responses and, if available, reattempt a question.
  • Video and audio questions do not have a set retake limit, so you can reattempt them as needed.
  • Other question types, such as MCQ, MSQ, fill-in-the-blank, matching, and game challenges, cannot be reattempted.

  • Find a quiet, comfortable place where you can attempt the interview without distractions.
  • Make sure your camera, microphone, and internet connection are working properly before you start.
  • Read the instructions on the interview screen carefully before starting.
  • Review response time and total interview time before you begin.
  • If available, attempt practice questions to get comfortable with the interview flow.
  • Reserve time for each question as you prepare, record, or rerecord your responses.

3. Timed Interview

A Timed interview allows you an overall time limit for completing the entire interview, rather than having a per-question time limit. Within the allocated time, you can move between questions, review your answers, and, if available, reattempt the questions.

How it works:

  • The interview has one overall time limit rather than a separate time limit for each question.
  • After you've attempted all the questions, you can review your responses and, if available, reattempt a question.
  • Video and audio questions do not have a set retake limit, so you can reattempt them as needed within the interview's available time.
  • Other question types, such as MCQ, MSQ, fill-in-the-blank, matching, and game challenges, cannot be reattempted.
