Job Title                :          Senior Technician / Clerk

Location               :          Littleton, MA

Duration              :          24+ Months Contract

 

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

As a member of the Quality Failure Analysis Department, this position will assist Failure Analysis Engineers and Quality Engineers to analyze, test field return product, and performed administrative work to keep the work flow going.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

•             Troubleshoots electrical and mechanical problems to determine root-cause of the issue and recommend a corrective action

•             Sets up and operates machines / equipment / fixtures needed to perform FA and testing processes

•             Operates standard electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, generators, meters, power supplies, service monitors and test fixtures etc) appropriately for effective troubleshooting / diagnosis

•             Operates hand tools and power tools to install the return parts into the system

•             Identifies failures and set up problems, isolates problems, and takes appropriate action to resolve those problems

•             Conducts visual inspection of units, components (Monitors, Motor Drives, PC Boards, Cables etc.) and/or subcomponents

•             Informs supervisor of all unresolved and / or potential problems that would affect Failure Analysis lab test schedules

•             Prioritizes troubleshooting workload according to schedule demands and department metrics

•             Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment to assure quality requirements are met

•             Perform decontamination of field return parts of potential biohazardous materials upon receipt of parts

•             Fill out relevant paperwork / tags and enter appropriate information required for receiving returned parts on record keeping system

•             Fills out test reports, enter test data into the record keeping system as necessary

•             Inspects all work before passing on to the next operations

•             Reviews documented procedures and processes related to testing, troubleshooting and reporting and work with other departments on continuous improvements

•             Participates in FA MRB meetings and coordinate / help with the final disposition of material with other departments to include the physical movement of parts

•             Provides support to the Production Leads and Production Supervisor on all production assignments, and works in other departments and/or miscellaneous assignments as instructed

•             May conduct detailed experimental testing, suggest and help implement process revisions and improvements

•             Reviews and evaluates engineering changes (ECO) and/or specification requirements, and serve as the liaison with production, purchasing and engineering personnel

•             Required to spend extended periods of time in the Lab troubleshooting parts and documenting test results

•             Required to interact and communicate with peers and co-workers          

•             Follow all Quality System Practices as defined by Medtronic Navigation’s practices, policies and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure that FDA, ISO and European Medical Device quality standards and regulations are met where applicable

•             All activities must be performed in compliance with the Quality System

•             Performs duties in compliance with environmental, health and safety related site rules, policies or governmental regulations

•             All other duties as assigned including administrative work

•             Be able to lift parts that weigh 50 lbs.

•             Travel requirement: Less than 10%

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

•             Associate’s Degree in Electrical and/or 2 years in trade school equivalent

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

•             2+ years of trade school or college

•             2+ years of technical experience

 

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

•             Experience with electromechanical layout and assembly

•             Soldering through-hole and surface-mount components to IPC Standards

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

•             4+ years of technical experience

•             Performs a variety of technical duties using considerable judgment to determine the appropriate standard practices and equipment required in the area

•             Familiar with ISO Standards, IPC Standards and Good Manufacturing Practices

•             Effective at troubleshooting electromechanical devices

•             Consistent, through and detailed documentation habits are essential

•             Good administrative skill

•             Good oral and written communication skills

•             Must be a positive contributor when working with cross functional teams or within the workgroup

•             Must be able to handle multiple tasks/projects and manage priorities accordingly

•             Experience with electronic test equipment: Oscilloscope, Voltmeters, etc.

•             Computer literate: Microsoft Office products
